Maintain the Health and Appearance of Your Lawn

With Our Additional Services

Here at Duncan’s Green Team, we understand that maintaining that perfect landscape involves more than lawn fertilization and weed control. In south metro Atlanta, we are plagued with a variety of pesky insects, especially annoying and unpleasant mosquitoes. Most of our properties include valuable trees and shrubs, flower gardens, vegetable gardens, and garden decor. That is why we provide a variety of additional services to help beautify and maintain the health of your landscape. These services include but are not limited to the following: core aeration and overseeding for both warm and cool-season kinds of grass, grub control, tree, and shrub care, and ant, flea, and tick control.

Core Aeration and Overseeding for Georgia’s Warm and Cool-Season Grasses

Why Does My Lawn Need Aeration?
Lawns that see heavy use, such as playtime with the kids and pets, lawnmower, and even motorized vehicle traffic, all contribute to wear and tear on the lawn. Eventually, over time, this causes massive thatch buildup, which creates an impenetrable layer that denies your grass of essential fertilizer, water, and oxygen. Unable to process what it needs to thrive, your grass will wither and die.

When and How Often Should I Have Aeration Performed?
All lawns can benefit from core aeration done at the proper time of the year for your type of grass. Here in Georgia, our grasses fall into two different categories, warm-season and cool-season. Warm-season grasses begin their period of active growth in spring. If you aerate a warm-season lawn in late spring to early summer, the ensuing period of rapid growth will quickly fill in the holes you create. Cool-season turf emerges from summer dormancy in early fall and thrives during the lower temperatures and reduced weed competition. Strong growth helps the lawn quickly recover from the stress of aeration. The window of opportunity on fall aeration starts at the end of September and typically ends two or three weeks before the first frost.

Duncan’s knowledgeable and trained technicians recognize the difference between the two kinds of grass and are prepared to identify when the appropriate time to perform aeration occurs. Our south metro Atlanta lawns mostly contain clay soil. Therefore, we recommend having aeration performed twice a year. With multiple aerations over time, your grass will begin to thicken to a more lush, dense turfgrass.

For Optimal Growth of Your South Metro Atlanta Lawn, Overseeding is Recommended
After aerating your lawn, it is primed and ready for overseeding. Overseeding is the process of introducing new types of grass seed to the existing turf with other grass strains. Overseeding will help fill in any bare areas, thicken your grass, enhance its appearance and color, and fend off pests, weeds, drought, and disease. The process of overseeding after aeration is the final step to revitalizing an otherwise unhealthy lawn. Start enhancing your soil’s health and create a more vigorous, robust lawn with Duncan’s Green Team today.

Tree and Shrub Care for Your South Metro Atlanta Lawn Ornamentals

The team at Duncan’s realizes that a landscape doesn’t just encompass a lawn. Your trees and shrubs also deserve love and care. Our tree and shrub fertilization program will provide your valuable lawn ornaments with the nutrients needed to become healthy, beautiful, and disease and insect resilient. We offer tree and shrub care services that include deep root fertilization, insect control, disease, and fungus control.

Deep Root Fertilization

Duncan’s Green Team understands the clay soil types that make up south metro Atlanta lawns. We insert our top-quality deep root fertilizer directly into the tree roots. This places the essential nutrients back into the soil, giving the roots easier access to water and nutrients. It then allows for better root function, which increases health and provides effective soil aeration. We highly recommend deep root fertilization performed once a year in early spring.

Duncan’s process includes using specialized equipment. Our innovative, high-quality equipment allows for the fertilizer to be hydro-injected deep below the soil’s surface. It is performed using a specialized probe under high pressure to help de-compact the soils and deliver the product to the tree’s feeder roots.

Why Is Deep Root Tree and Shrub Fertilization Important?
With the types of clay soil we have here in Georgia, our ornamental trees and shrubs do not receive enough supplemental fertilization for them to thrive. Deep root fertilization increases the growth of young trees and shrubs, improves the color and density of the canopy, and builds resistance to fight off diseases and insects. Deep root fertilization also eases soil compaction around the tree’s root system, allowing more air exchange for the roots. This places the fertilizer directly where the tree can gain immediate access to the nutrients.

Tree and Shrub Insect Control
Even the most well-maintained ornamentals can be attacked by insects. Insects live within trees and shrubs, depleting them of the nutrients they need to thrive. While they bore and gnaw through the wood, they cause damage to the exterior and interior trunk and branches blocking the passageway for food and moisture. This results in dead foliage and broken limbs. Contact Duncan’s Green Team now and protect your trees and shrubs while they are still viable. Don’t wait until it’s too late.

Disease and Fungus Control
The experts at Duncan’s Green Team are highly knowledgeable and trained to detect and prevent tree disease and fungus. Allow our Duncan’s team to inspect your ornamental as part of our preventative care or test to see what is ailing them so we can find a solution. Dormant oil is a great alternative to chemical insecticides. When applied to your ornamentals, it provides an effective barrier between insects and your precious trees and shrubs. Made of natural substances, our dormant oil is considered safe for your family, children, and pets. To maintain the health and protection of your trees and shrubs, contact Duncan’s Green Team today!

Take Care of Pests with Duncan’s Green Team!
Put Grubs in Their Place

Don’t allow lawn damaging grubs to destroy your yard! Get grub control before it’s too late. Grubs can spell out a nightmare for and destroy even the most healthy lawns. These small beetles love to devour the roots of your grass, stealing vital nutrients and minerals your roots need to survive. They’re tiny and almost impossible to identify. But if your grass is beginning to die, leaving brown patches and wilting grass in random spots throughout your lawn, there is a good chance you have grubs. Other signs include soft, spongy grass that pulls up easily and an increase in holes created by moles, raccoons, and other wildlife digging in your yard.

Duncan’s Green Team offers a comprehensive grub control program that will destroy and prevent these nasty pests from coming back.

Flea and Tick Control

Fleas and ticks are not only annoying to us, they are irritating to our beloved pets as well. They are highly underestimated parasites that carry diseases, including tapeworms, Murine Typhus, Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and allergic reactions.

Our comprehensive and highly effective flea and tick control is an outdoor perimeter spray that targets the areas where these pests are most likely to be found. To more effectively control mosquitoes, fleas, and ticks on your property, we suggest that you regularly treat your pets and the interior of your home. Given the natural environment, it is unrealistic to eradicate every single mosquito, flea, and tick. However, our mosquito, flea, and tick program, in conjunction with smart cultural practices, can significantly reduce your family’s exposure to these annoying pests. Contact Duncan’s Green Team today and stop living in fear of the sting and give us a ring!

Fire Ant Control

Fire ants are nasty, pain invoking, lawn damaging creatures. They cost Americans more than six billion dollars a year in property damage, hospital trips, skin treatments, and elimination efforts. These irritating pests can be extremely difficult to handle. They love to create large mounds in your lawn, nesting in the soil, within landscape mulch, and beneath timbers on under walkway slabs. They are harmful to you, your pets, and your family. They will inject venom into anything they perceive as a threat and attack in large swarms.

Allow us to help you take on these frustrating pests. Our methods of controlling fire ants are safe for you and will restore order in your yard. Usually, just one application of our fire ant treatment will rid your lawn of fire ants and help control them for an entire year. Don’t allow fire ants to ruin your day. Contact us today to schedule your fire ant treatment and take back control of your lawn.
