Duncan’s Fungicide Treatment
Diseases and fungus can have devastating effects on your south metro Atlanta lawn, leaving you with unsightly turf. One of the most common and distinguishable types of fungi is dollar spot. Appearing mostly inside of bermudagrass, it shows up as tan-colored patches the size of a dollar coin. Another fungi contender is large patch fungus. This spore-producing organism favors zoysia grasses. Generally, large patch fungus emerges in late fall once the warm-season grass enters into dormancy, but it can also rear its ugly head in spring. Over time, both dollar spot and large patch fungus can merge and create large areas of infected turf.
These and other fungi can be prevented through proper maintenance of your lawn. Causes for the fungal disease include insufficient fertilizer, improper irrigation techniques, dull mower blades, mowing at the wrong height, and inconsistent temperature changes.
